The holiday season is just around the corner and there is no better time to get started making Christmas ornaments. There are a lot of easy to make Christmas ornaments that you could get started with now and if you have any little ones they are sure to have a great time helping out. Most of these crafts are easy enough to make and don’t have any sharp supplies that you won’t have to worry about the kids getting hurt if they lend a hand. It is a great activity for the family right before Christmas and best of all you are going to save money by making your Christmas ornaments instead of buying them. Ideas for Ornaments For easy to make Christmas ornaments, one of the best to make would be the glitter ornaments. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the best and that is definitely true in this case. There are scissors that will need to be used to make these ornaments and so you will want to take over if you have younger children that are going to be helping here. All you will need for these easy to make ornaments is white heavy weight paper, a Christmas shapes template of whatever shapes you want, clear drying craft glue, white glitter, scissors, a specialty hole punch and ribbon or some decorative cord. Now once you have all the supplies that you are going to need you are ready to get started. The first step for these easy to make Christmas ornaments is to trace the templates onto the heavy paper so that you have copies of them and then you just punch a hole at the top as this will be used for the hanging. Depending on the size of your tree, you will want to make this hole smaller or larger. You don’t really need a hole punch for this but it is best because it will give you the cleanest hole and you won’t have to worry about ripping. Then you want to put glue on one side of the paper and pour glitter over top of this. You may want to have some newspaper underneath so that you can just throw it all out once you are done because it will be covered in glitter. Don’t forget to shake the ornaments off over the garbage after you have applied the glitter because some will be loose and you want to get it in the garbage before it gets knocked over onto the floor. Then you just leave the ornaments in a safe place so that they can dry. Make sure that you are not keeping them down where the kids can get to them while they are drying because then you are going to have little hands with glue and glitter all over them. Once they are dry you can put the ribbon or decorative rope through the holes and then hang the ornaments up on the tree. They are really beautiful and the glitter will shine off of the lights on the tree so they are nice ornaments to have up. Glass Ball Ornaments There are also glass ball ornaments that you could make. These are really easy to make Christmas ornaments that will cost you next to nothing and which are very simple to make. You are going to need glass ornaments, tinsel, feathers, glue and whatever other supplies you would like to stick on the ornaments. These are so simple to make and you just put glue wherever you want on the ornaments and then use the decorations to cover them. Kids love making these ornaments and then you can keep them and use them over and over. |
